VLADTV Interview With Beanie Sigel (Video)
VladTV catches up with Beans (@BeanieSigelSP) to wax poetic about his days with the ROC, his status in the game, and his beef with Jadakiss. In by far the most interesting part of the interview, Beans reveals how Jay-Z got Jada kicked off a couple huge songs in the early-mid 2000s. Not only did Jay usurp Kiss’s spot on R. Kelly’s “Fiesta (Remix)” but he also pulled the switcharoo on Mya’s hit song “Best of Me.” It’s kind of crazy to ponder what could have been in Jadakiss’s career if things had gone according to plan. I mean, I’ve always thought that Jadakiss has the talent to be a bigger artist, but he has been held back because of an inability to crossover into the pop world. If you’ve ever seen the video for the Bad Boy remix to Mariah Carey’s song “Honey,” you probably understand exactly what I mean. The whole thing just seemed so fake and forced. That being said, both of the songs mentioned above were huge crossover hits that had the potential to raise Jadakiss’s profile and expose him to new audiences. On the other hand, you have to wonder if these songs were huge crossover hits partly because of Jay-Z. It’s hard to deny the fact that Jay-Z has the broadest crossover appeal out of any rapper in the game. As a hip-hop head, it is impossible for me not to ponder these hypothetical scenarios. #KanyeShrug
